Architectural Designer I/II (AD1, AD2)

ROLE CONTEXT


The Architectural Designer I or II at Red House is responsible for ensuring our designs are both art (beautiful, heirloom-quality aesthetics) and a science (technically sound, code-compliant, and buildable). In this essential role, you support the Lead Designer in creating a world-class experience for our clients, ensuring that every drawing and deliverable reflects our high standards for craft and detail.
 

CORE ACCOUNTABILITIES

  • Design Support: Collaborate with and support the design-build team throughout all project phases.
  • Concept Development: Research and develop architectural design concepts in line with the client's scope and budget.
  • Project Documentation: Design and develop presentation drawings and construction documents.
  • BIM Management: Maintain and improve BIM library management and process efficiencies.
  • Field Coordination: Lead existing condition documentation, assist with construction admin.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Develop design concepts under the guidance of senior team members
  • Assist in the preparation of permitting and construction documents for Production team
  • Assist in the preparation of architectural design materials such as presentation drawings, 3D renderings, etc., for client review and approval
  • Maintain and update the selection checklist & BuilderTrend selection templates to ensure systematized accuracy for every project.
  • Research and produce design and construction documents for code compliance, quality control, and constructability
  • Independently conducting existing condition documentation, field surveys, and site assessments under the leadership of a Project Manager and/or Lead Designer. 
  • Write concise meeting notes and communication logs after every client and internal team meeting.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

  • AD 1: 0-3 years of experience in high-end residential architecture.
  • AD 2: 5+ years of experience with a proven track record of managing complex residential technical sets.
  • BArch or MArch degree from an accredited program.
  • Proficiency in Revit is required. Also: AutoCAD, Adobe Creative Suite, and SketchUp.
  • Strong understanding of RI and MA building codes.
  • This is a studio-based role in Providence, RI. (Not a remote or hybrid role).
  • Must have a valid driver's license and the ability to travel between project locations throughout the day
 

COMPENSATION & BENEFITS

Salary Range: $55,000-$80,000, Commensurate with experience; ADI vs. ADII.
